(Heb 2:9) “But we see Jesus, Who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man.” Notice the very revealing statement, “But we see Jesus,….made lower… ‘for’ the suffering of death…..” The Lord Jesus did so many things while here that John states he supposed if they were all recorded the world would not be able to hold the books (Jn 21:25). Yet…..His coming was for one thing: to pay for my sin by suffering death in my place!

(Heb 2:8d) “… But now we see not yet all things put under him. (9) But we see Jesus, Who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man.” “Not yet”, indicates Jesus’ coming and deathwill change the subjugation of the world back to where God intended it. By the way, when God restores, He makes it better than before.
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Heb 2:8) “Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.” For over six thousands years, this world has not been under the dominion of man: “But now we see NOT yet all things put under him.” No, sin brought an end to that plan. All of creation has suffered because of man’s sin against God.

WATER (Heb 2:7) “Thou…crownedst him with glory and honour,… (8) Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.” The “all things in subjection” to man is referring to all of creation – meaning this old world. It was meant to be governed by individuals bearing the image, likeness of God. Likeness meaning of His disposition, not like fallen man at all.
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Heb 2:7) “Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:” Man’s glory was being made in the image of God. His glory was of being divinely appointed to be over the works (creation) of God. He lost that glory through sin. He can regain it through the rebirth – salvation.
THIRSTING SOULS BIBLE TEACHING: The Life of Christ, Message “Three Days”
So often when it comes to the events of Scripture, there is far more there than meets the eye. This is true even when it comes to the three days between the death of our Lord and His resurrection from the dead.
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Heb 2:7) “Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:” Addressing man’s original state, he was honored to be made in the image of God. It is not believed that the image was the “human form”, but in the sense of being triune. As God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, man was made body, soul, and spirit.

(Heb 2:7) “Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:” As one looks at the creation of God, we are here reminded of the original plan of God. Man was created, placed upon the earth, and decreed to have dominion over all. Think of it: animals obeying man; plants without weeds.
THIRSTING SOULS BIBLE TEACHING: The Life of Christ, Lesson #40 “The Reason for the Healing of One” Part #4
The purpose of the healing of one person was to set up important revelations at the beginning of our Lord’s ministry. This lesson focuses on details given by Jesus to signify He is the fulfillment of Moses’ Word from God. Jesus is “the prophet like unto Moses”.
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Heb 2:6) “But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?” The pride of man says, “Of course God will take notice and help me. I’m worth it.” Yet, God’s estimate of man is “righteousness as filthy rags (Is 64:6); “none that doeth good; no. not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; no fear of God” (Rom 3:10=18). Therefore from God’s perspective, “why” indeed?
