(Heb 2:14) “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;” They were not “children of God” before He took upon Him flesh. They are children because He took upon Him flesh.
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Heb 2:13) “And again, I will put My trust in Him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given Me.” Praise God, the Lord Jesus is still gathering those children through the rebirth to this day: (Gal_3:26) “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.”
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Heb 2:13) “And again, I will put My trust in Him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given Me.” “Trust”: directed towards God it speaks of faith; no matter what, it is right for Him to do. I trust “all things work for good to them that love God” (Rom 8:28). God the Son demonstrated trust/faith to you and me: “Not My will but Thine be done” (Lk 22:42).
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Heb 2:11c) “… He is not ashamed to call them brethren, (12) Saying, I will declare Thy Name unto My brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto Thee.” I can only think of one time when our Lord sang: (Mk 14:26; Mat_26:30 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.” There will come a day when the saved will hear the voice of Jesus singing! Glory!
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Heb 2:11c) “… He is not ashamed to call them brethren, (12) Saying, I will declare Thy Name unto My brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto Thee.” Every truly saved brethren has this declaration taking place in their soul every day through the person of the Holy Spirit inside them. Do you have this recurring witness?
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Heb 2:10) “For it became Him, for Whom are all things, and by Whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the Captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.” Note that in the salvation experience; that is, from the moment it is given, one becomes a son, made perfect in God’s eyes through their Captain.
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Heb 2:11) “For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,” This verse taken with the previous, “Captain…..perfect through sufferings”, speaks of the result of 2Co_5:2, “For He hath made Him to be sin for us, Who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.”
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Heb 2:11) “For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,” This “oneness” with Christ reveals in what way we are “sanctified”. Having been made “one” with Christ means we are “justified” from sin. We no longer are seen by the Holy God of Judgment as having ever committed a sin, thus set apart from the world.
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Heb 2:11) “For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,” “Sanctified”: set apart. Notice first and foremost that those “sanctified” and made so by being put, in the determinate mind of God, in Christ (“…all of one:…”). If that were not true, our continued “thoughts” (acts of sin) would defile us. God sees us “in” His Son.
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Heb 2:10) “For it became Him, for Whom are all things, and by Whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the Captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.” “Captain”: it means “chief”, “leader”, “captain”. This thought goes perfectly with the term “head”: (1Co_11:3) “But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ;”
