(Heb 2:11)  “For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,”  “Sanctified”: set apart. Notice first and foremost that those “sanctified” and made so by being put, in the determinate mind of God, in Christ (“…all of one:…”). If that were not true, our continued “thoughts” (acts of sin) would defile us. God sees us “in” His Son.
