(Heb 3:5) “And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;”  Moses was not simply faithful in heart, fidelity, devotion, and love toward the builder – the Lord God. He was also faithful in communication and penning God’s direction and commands of both conduct and reconciliation. His testimony says we are to and can do the same.

(Heb 3:5) “And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;”   Notice that Moses did not look upon the house as his own, but belonging to God. He never lost sight that he was the servant of the Lord. May we always remember that it is God Who is everything. It is a privilege to be the servant of God.

(Heb 3:3) “For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as He who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house. (4) For every house is builded by some man; but He that built all things is God.” Here the Lord Jesus is being plainly acknowledged as God, as did all of Chapter One. There is only one true “builder” – God Almighty, the First and the Last. All other things will cease to exist.

(Heb 3:1) “…Christ Jesus; (Heb 3:2) Who was faithful to Him that appointed Him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house. (3) For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as He Who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.”  A distinction is made here between honor, prestiege, of the two men, Jesus and Moses. Moses was overseeing God’s people to become a nation. Jesus’ people are His Own: (Heb 2:13) “And again, I will put My trust in Him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given Me.” 

Heb 3:1  Wherefore, holy brethren,…consider the Apostle and High Priest…., Christ Jesus;  (2)  Who was faithful to Him that appointed Him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.”  All authority is ultimately given by God Himself. Just as Moses was appointed over a “house” (in this case a people-group), Israel, so is the Lord Jesus. The extent of this “house” is about to be revealed.

Heb 3:1  Wherefore, holy brethren,…consider the Apostle and High Priest…., Christ Jesus;  (2)  Who was faithful to Him that appointed Him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.”  Consider Him, Who was “appointed” . All power rendered upon this earth is ultimately allowed to be so by our Sovereign God (Rom 13:1). As we progress we will see this to be true even of Jesus.

(Heb 3:1) “Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;”   “Apostle”: sent one; of representative authority.  “High Priest”:  Highest responsibility representing men regarding sacrifice for sin. Notice He is those things “for” you and me, “our profession”. Praise Him.

(Heb 3:1) “Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;”  “Partaker”: by implication a sharer, fellow. Notice, like our High Priest Jesus ministering from the true tabernacle in heaven, we are partakers of that same place.

(Heb 3:1) “Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;”  Do not miss that the text has gone from saying Jesus will help you from sinning to calling the saved, “holy”, sinless. Positionally I am completely without sin in Christ – holy. Practically, still living in this flesh, I need His help overcoming my old nature. Sin does not affect my position. It affects my fellowship with God.
