(1 Cor 6:13) Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.” The body is for the Lord”: the body of the saved is to house the Lord that He might tabernacle upon this earth. Just think of it: thousands upon thousands of people walking among a lost world with the knowledge of the Lord living inside them, seeking to allow Him to speak through them and to use their bodies as witness: “My Lord is real!” “Salvation is real!
THIRSTING SOULS BIBLE STUDY: The Book of Hebrews, Chapter 2, Study #4
The greatness of the Lord Jesus continues in thought from Chapter One. God made man a promise that he would be set over all the works of God – yet to take place. Now we see it will be accomplished by He Who came to earth to die for man’s sins. So, we are warned to carefully heed all this One has said.
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(1Co 6:12) “All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. (13) Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.” There are things this body needs and there are things it desires. One thing needs to be in the forefront of our minds: this body is the Lord’s. It is no longer mine.
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(1Co 6:12) “All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.” “All things are lawful”: in this case it means the law of been completely kept by my Savior so I am no longer in violation of it. Yet, that does not free me to offend God, therefore “but all things are not expedient” – conducive to holy living. Proof – sexual sin (v.13).
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(1Co 6:11) “And such were some of you:…but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God” Though I might fall into one of those sins listed in verses 9 &10, I stand “justified” (as if I never committed one of them) as far as my eternal destiny is concerned. Yet, that sin will and does affect my fellowship with Him: Hab_1:13 “Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity:…”
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(1Co 6:11) “And such were some of you:…but ye are sanctified,… in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.” The word “sanctified” comes from the root word, “holy”. So, it means more than to be set apart unto God. “Holy” means separate from all sin. Put together, positionally in the sight of God we have been made without sin in His presence. The next word, “justified” spells that out (tomorrow’s).
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(1Co 6:11) “And such were some of you: but ye are washed…in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.” When one repents (desires to live as the Lord desires them to live) and turn in faith to Christ’s death on the cross for their sins (the Name of the Lord Jesus), they are washed in His blood: Psa_51:7 “Purge me with hyssop (how the blood was applied to the doorpost), and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.” This is done by the Spirit of God.
THIRSTING SOULS BIBLE STUDY: Life of Christ, Lesson #11, “From Rejecting to Embracing”
What if your fiancé came to you and said, “I am pregnant with God’s Son.” Would you have believed her? Joseph finds himself in that very situation. It could have turned out much differently if God had not intervened.
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(1Co 6:11) “And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.” To those who have been birthed spiritually into the family of God, the things listed here have taken place: washing of sin, sanctification, justification. To continue to practice the sins of the unsaved, is to sin against the blood that bought you (v.20).
THIRSTING SOULS BIBLE STUDY: The Book of Hebrews, Chapter 1, Study #3
The Lord Jesus is revealed to be not only the Son of God, but plainly God in every way. We take a look at how, though made “lower than the angels for the suffering of death”, the Father directs the angels to worship Him as God incarnate.
