(Eph 1:18) “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened;…” This is one of the blessings associated with the Holy Spirit already revealed in this chapter as the seal of the Believer’s soul and spirit. The Lord Jesus said the Spirit would guide us into all truth. “enlightened” – made to see what one could not see otherwise. The Bible is a closed book to the unsaved. Sure, they can read and understand facts, but there are spiritual truth held within its pages which can only be revealed through the gift of the Holy Spirit given at the time of the salvation experience.
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Eph 1:16) “Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
(17) That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:” He prayed that the saved would receive the “spirit of wisdom…..in the knowledge of Him”! Saved child of God, there is much to learn of our Lord! We should avail ourselves daily to the Word of God plus our church when the doors are open! Oh, the knowledge of God is sweet to the soul!
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Eph 1:15) “Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, (16) Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;” How often today we speak “I will pray for you” and never pray! It is a very pious statement. It makes us sound very spiritual. Yet, if we do not actually do it, we have misled the individual and mimicked the Pharisees by our actions (praying both publicly on street corners and saying long prayers only to be seen of men). God help us to be genuine.
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Eph 1:15) “Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, (16) Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;” Truly saved persons love other saved persons. How do I know that? Jesus said it: (Joh 15:12) “This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.” Love is a sign to ourselves and others that we are genuinely saved: (Joh 13:35) “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. Do you have that kind of love?
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Eph 1:13) “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation:…” Remember, dear one, “faith” is “trusting what God says is true and acting upon it”. One without the other is not what the Bible means by faith. So, you have not really come by faith, you have not trusted, if you have not responded by coming to Him with humble heart, turning from your sin, and asking forgiveness and the gift of everlasting life!
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Eph 1:14) “Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.” It is to God’s eternal praise that He secures the Born-again Child of God with Himself! It is to His eternal praise that He paid for lost sinners with the blood of His Son! May the saved speak of His goodness and mercy as long as they have breath! May each be found singing His praises on this day!
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Eph 1:14) “Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.” I am God’s purchased possession! I am no longer my own. I have been bought with the price of Christ’s blood! How sad when we rob our Savior of the service that belongs to Him!
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Eph 1:14) “Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.” What does it mean, “until the redemption”? I thought the price had already been paid? It has! It’s referring to the sure future of the saved, when the Lord takes us to where He lives – our new home! Glorious day!
