(1Co 2:11) “For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.”  Conclusion: if you wish to know  God, you can only do it through the Spirit of God. If you have not truly been saved, then you have no hope of knowing these things, for the New Birth (Jn 3) makes our own spirit alive and at the same time the Holy Spirit of God comes to live inside us. He speaks to us through our own spirit.

(1Co 2:9) “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. (10)  But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.”   Since these things are revealed to the saved through the indwelling Holy Spirit, and…His revelation of truth is through the completed Word of God (there is no “new” revelation today), then those precious things are waiting for you to discover by…….reading it. No short cuts.

(1Co 2:7) “But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery,…(8)  Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” If they had known Jesus was God’s Son, they would not have murdered Him. Yet, should that have mattered? God’s Son or not, they murdered a man, the best person Who ever walked the face of this earth!

(1Co 2:7) “But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory”  “Our glory” is our eternal presence before our Lord and Savior in resurrected never-to-sin-again bodies!

In mercy He devised the plan of saving individuals through His Son’s death in our place. Our soul’s salvation was the center-stone of creation’s plan.

(1Co 2:7) “But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:”  The mystery here is that which is revealed by the Spirit of God to the spirit of each saved person made alive at the rebirth (Jn 3). To the lost the things of God remain a mystery (v.14 “spiritually discerned”)

(1Co 2:6) “Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:”  “Them that are perfect” speaks of our standing “in Christ Jesus”. Philippians speaks of both our standing and reality in flesh: standing (Php_3:15  Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.); reality (Php_3:12  Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.).

(1Co 2:4) “And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: (5) That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.” The power of the gospel is to transform lives. When the Lord saves us, our spirits are made alive and a divine nature is imparted. That nature makes our desires different from the lost.

(1Co 2:3) “And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.” Few of God’s men were spiritually greater than Paul; yet, Paul’s strength was not physical nor stoic regarding the dangerous actions of sinful man. Still, it did not deter his faithfulness to His Savior!

(1 Cor 2:20 “For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.”   If one can keep this ever forefront in the mind, it would keep us from many a selfish and self-centered sin. Instead it would help us to seek to live: “Help me to give my life as He gave His for mine.”
