(Col 4:16) “And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and that ye likewise read the epistle from Laodicea. “ When I go to church, I don’t want to hear sweet stories for the purpose of touching my emotions. I want to hear the Word of God with the Lord Jesus uplifted. If the Gospel of Christ will not move me, nothing else can or should take its place.
Dear Pastor Jerry,
What a wonderful ministry you have in “Thirsting Souls!”
The enthroned Christ spoke to the Apostle John about the church in Laodicea, and His speaking was brutally frank: because it was lukewarm, He was going to “spue” it out of His mouth. We know a lukewarm church is one that has lost its FIRST LOVE – and this is Christ.
As we rightly divide the Word of God in our preaching to the local church, we must ALWAYS exalt Christ’s Person and Work; in so doing, styles vary – but, if we keep our “first love,” all is well.
Thank you so much for sharing Thirsty Souls; assuredly, Lynn and I look forward to how our Lord uses it in our lives to grow our love for Christ.
Rejoicing in Christ,
Dr. (Colonel) Wirth
