DAILY DROP OF WATER

I cannot help but wonder what those responsible for our Lord’s death contemplated during this time. They had witnessed a true darkness over the face of the earth THREE HOURS while Jesus hung on that cross (Lk 23:44). They had felt the earth violently shake the moment He gave up His spirit (Matt 21:50-51). Were they fearful? They should have been! I honestly would not like to be them when they face our Lord AND THEY WILL! If you understand Scripture, you will realize that each of us are responsible for His death, for He was dying for our sins. If you do not repent and embrace Him as Savior, you will have to face Him also and explain “why”!

DAILY DROP OF WATER

(Lk 23:46) “And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost. (47)  Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man. (48)  And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned. (49)  And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.” None of us can really comprehend the days following this tragedy!  The best, most loving, most giving Person Who ever walked this earth as gone – taken in the most awful of ways! What emptiness! What loss! I only know this: after having Him in my life for 45 years, I wouldn’t what to live another minute without Him!

DAILY DROP OF WATER

EVERY Word of God is true! He Who created language, had no trouble saying what He meant. He said, (Mat_12:40)  “For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” Pretty precise, is it not? Why then do we still follow man and tradition observing “Good Friday”? There’s only one day that fits – Wednesday! TODAY my Lord suffered for me!

DAILY DROP OF WATER

The night of His betrayal, the Lord Jesus gave the disciples fruit juice (wine) saying, (Matt 26:28) “For this is My blood of the New Testament, which is shed for the remission of sins.”  A New Testament, a New Covenant as opposed to the Old that was made with Israel. Its purpose to remove our sins. The means – the very blood of the Lord Jesus! He began those Words by saying, “Drink ye all of it!” I WANT all of it! I want ALL of the Lord Jesus. I want all it means to be a Christian, to be identified with Him! I want it even if it means being rejected of loved ones, fellow workers, or neighbors. Nothing is more important than to be His in EVERY WAY!

DAILY DROP OF WATER

The Lord Jesus KNEW all that would take place regarding His torture and death: (Mat 20:17) “ And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them, (18)  Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, (19)  And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.” Yet, even knowing… (Lk_9:51) “And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,”.  You and I were and are that important to Him! Let us be as determined to move forward, even if it mean suffering, for His sake!

DAILY DROP OF WATER

Whenever I contemplate the disciples and others putting their cloaks upon the ground for the donkeys to walk upon, I find it symbolizes to me that the Lord Jesus was so holy, that all He touched became holy. Thus, the donkey’s feet were, by His presence on its back, made so holy the ground was not worthy of its touch!

DAILY DROP OF WATER

(Mat 21:4) “All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, (5) Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.”  This was a demonstration of the character, the heart, of the Lord Jesus Christ! This coming was for the purpose of dying for our sins. It was for the purpose of taking our place on the cross as the Offender of God! He died in our place! He was indeed “meek” in His willingness to bear shame to save us from an eternity in Hell!
