DAILY DROP OF WATER

(1Ti 6:13)  “I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;”  Why mention Jesus before Pontius Pilate? Timothy is being encouraged to remain strong in this fight for the faith, walking in the Spirit, thus manifesting those spiritual qualities as Jesus did! That……my brothers/sisters is the goal! Not our glory, but the desire to seek His before the lost!

DAILY DROP OF WATER

(1Ti 6:13) “I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things,….”  It is God alone that gave life, gives life, and has said, “Ye must be born again….that which is born of the Spirit is spirit”, meaning He desires to give spiritual life. Man knows in his heart the cost to him of having spiritual life will be the forsaking of their old life – sinful life. We do them wrong when we say, “No”, just believe, just accept, and you will be saved. The message Jesus preached was “repent”, meaning to have a desire to turn around and walk with God in the righteous life.

DAILY DROP OF WATER

(1Ti 6:12) “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”  “Lay hold on eternal life”: cling to it faithfully. It is not an act that accompanies a mindset of losing it. It is of the mindset of remaining faithful to it. Proof verse would be: (Php_3:12) “Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.”  It’s like the Lord has hold of me with His arms wrapped around me and I am hugging Him back!

DAILY DROP OF WATER

1Ti 6:11  But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. (12) Fight the good fight of faith,…”  You would not think that following those attributes were coincide with “fight the good fight of faith”. Yet, they perfectly do so. Our battle is spiritual, not physical. It is representing the good and holy Almighty God against the depravity of wickedness. God help us to stand; yet in a way that pleases and glorifies Him!

DAILY DROP OF WATER

(1Ti 6:11) “But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.” “Follow…..meekness.”  Meekness is not weakness. Meekness is a correct view of self before God. Jesus was meek. He knew who and what He was, requiring only to please His Father God. I quote one verse as the guide to this position (God help us to follow it), (Php_2:3) “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.”

DAILY DROP OF WATER

DAILY DROP OF WATER  (1Ti 6:11) “But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.”   “Follow….patience…”  Patience: the ability to rest in peace waiting for the Lord to perform His will in my life. Troubles move us to plead with the Lord for His help; but that doesn’t mean we are to lose our peace of heart as we wait. To lose peace is to doubt the goodness of God. As long as He is glorified He can do as He will with me!

DAILY DROP OF WATER

(1Ti 6:11) “But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.”   “Follow after….love”  When we think of love, we think of “being” loved. We will love and they will love us back. If our love is first turned towards our God then obedience will follow, leading us to seek to love even those who may not love us back. That, friend, is God’s love.
