DAILY DROP OF WATER

(2Ti 3:15) “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”    God’s Word the Bible…..is “Holy”. It’s Words are to treated with reverence. If I add to God’s Holy Word then I have acted irreverently and stand guilty of a great sin. If I do not hold to all He has said, I am removing what He has said and thus stand in a dangerous place of judgment. Do you view it with reverence, thoughtfully considering it as God’s Holy revelation and instruction for your life?

DAILY DROP OF WATER

(2Ti 3:15) “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”   I seem to discern there are those who equate their “faith which is in Christ Jesus” with “therefore I am saved”. No, there must be a bestowing of salvation which is the making alive of one’s spirit – that is the result of “salvation”, thus the word “through”. That bestowing means that God has seen one’s heart, found it genuine in desire to turn away from the sins that caused Christ’s death, and thus forgave the individual. It’s great that you believe what God has said. The next step is to seek forgiveness and then for God to act.

DAILY DROP OF WATER

(2Ti 3:15) “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”   The “wisdom” here is referring to the opening of our eyes to see the great wickedness in us of which the Lord Jesus bore in suffering and death. And by believing that God desires to forgive, leads us to seek His face asking for mercy, in which He bestows the precious gift of everlasting life!

DAILY DROP OF WATER

(2Ti 3:15) “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”   Spiritualizing the text, the Lord Jesus said the only way to be saved was to become (in heart’s faith) as a little child (Matt 18:2-3; Luke 18:17). The pride of life needs to be set aside to admit before God our utter lack of merit and need for forgiveness and mercy. You (I) was the reason Jesus had to die. Remember, “…. God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble” (James 4:6; 1 Peter 5:5).

DAILY DROP OF WATER

(2Ti 3:15) “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures,….”  Such who had parents who directed them to the things of God are blessed indeed. Most today have not had this blessing. Take time to give thanks to God. Yet, understand, “to whom much is given much is required”. Fear God, giving Him the just fruits of love and devotion.

DAILY DROP OF WATER

(2Ti 3:14) “But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;”  The Lord gives us godly men who impart to us their life’s experiences of walking with God; that is, the application of Scripture. The purpose is to assure our hearts as to the reality of that which we read and study. The wise person learns from not only the successes, but also the failures of others. These humbly share with us – both.

DAILY DROP OF WATER

(2Ti 3:1) “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come…. (13)  But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.”    Since we live in this lost world, as it moves to the left, the saved move with it to varying degrees due to our fallen nature. Just as the Children of Israel were affected by Egypt, so are we affected. Our only hope to fight this is our commitment to know and obey God’s Word. Thus will be feed and strengthen the new nature of the born again.

DAILY DROP OF WATER

(2Ti 3:11) “Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. (12)  Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.”  If one will not put the Lord first enough in their life to read daily His Word, be faithful to all the church services, tithe, and tell others, would they be willing to suffer persecution for Him?

DAILY DROP OF WATER

(2Ti 3:10) “But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,…”We are to consider the example of life of this verse in contrast to that of those of the last days. Those of the last days: the pleasure of self before God’s commands. Those of our example of Paul: God’s commands come first, self last, and thus “patience” in all things. “Patience” through the Spirit gives us a faith that trust God’s goodness and purpose to be the end of the negative things which enter the life of the saved one.
