(Heb 2:3) “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation;…spoken by the Lord, and…confirmed…by them that heard him; (4) God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?” Why did these miracles and gifts of testimony end? Because they were prophetic signs unto the Jews that Messiah had come (Isa 8:18). Notice this book was primarily penned to the Jewish people. They, for the most part, rejected this witness, redirecting the message of salvation primarily to the Gentiles.

DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Heb 2:3) “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;” “So great”: as in magnitude. Consider the greatness of what is “salvation”. Though guilty without excuse, one’s sins are forgiven freely. At that moment a new nature desiring to please God is imparted to us. We are made alive spiritually with life that will never end. We are promised a new body that possesses no sin nature, no corruption, therefore no sickness, death, or sorrow. All is to be enjoyed from now throughout eternity. Yes, we have “so great salvation”!
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Heb 2:3) “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;” “Neglect”: not act upon what we have heard. Telling someone they do not have to be saved today, but can repent at any time – is wrong. The sin paid for is not of such little consequence that one can continue in it and then turn to the Bearer of that sin and say, “All right. Now I am ready to do better.” The agony endured and the precious blood shed demands a response – now!
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Heb 2:3) “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;” The Words of Jesus are plainly spoken. If one believes those Words, eternity is opened up before him. The Words of Scripture reach back to the beginning of time, through the history of His work of revelation concerning Himself, all the way into eternity future. Such lies within the pages of the King James Bible.
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Heb 2:2) “For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast,…(3) How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;” It’s one thing to have a member of the President’s cabinet bring us a message straight from His mouth; but another altogether for the President himself to stand before us with the same message. The one does not compare to the other! Oh, how we have been honored and blessed!
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Heb 2:2) “For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;” God Word, once delivered by an angel, brought forth judgment when not believed or was ignored (Zacharias, father of John Baptist). God never changes.
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Heb 2:2) “For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;” What made the word of angels “stedfast” (unchangeble)?” Answer: the Words were not their own, but exactly what God wanted said: (Isa_55:11) “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Heb 2:1) “Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.” I’ve had some say to me, “What Jesus said doesn’t apply to us, but to Israel.” This verse says, “You need to hear and hold on to what Jesus said.” All of the Word of God applies to me in some way. Hold on to it!
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Heb 2:1) “Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.” How honored and yet humbled should we be that God would inhabit a body in order to communicate our urgent need of salvation. And oh, then…..to pay for those sins on an old rugged cross. It should move us to desire to turn our backs and anything and everything in order to embrace Him and to serve Him.
DAILY DROP OF WATER
(Heb 2:1) “Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.” The discourse and personal knowledge of sin before a holy God, eternal punishment, the sending of God’s Son including His death and resurrection, are not information upon a mountain of information. No, it is the most important knowledge one will ever be confronted with. It is not simply to be heeded, but to earnestly, dead seriously heeded into action.
