DAILY DROP OF WATER

(2Ti 4:1) “I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ,…..(2)  Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke,….”  If those professing to be saved believe to “reprove” is not loving, then they certainly will think to “rebuke” is so. Each of us are born with sinful rebellion towards authority – aimed ultimately at God. Today, few respect authority. That attitude accompanies the saved into the church. Friend, we have not truly bowed to God’s authority until we are willing to bow in heart to those whom He gave authority: “Thou hast not lied unto man; but unto God”

DAILY DROP OF WATER

(2Ti 4:1) “I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; (2)  Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove,….”  The world has told us to “reprove” is not loving. To reprove one of sin is one of the most loving thing a person can do. God will judge the sin of each of us. To draw one back in repentance is spoken of this way: (Jas_5:20)  “Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.” The truth is, we do not confront “sin” because we love ourselves more.

DAILY DROP OF WATER

(2Ti 4:1) “I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; (2)  Preach the word;….”  The focus is not to be on Timothy as much as on those he is to minister unto. They need to hear the Word of God – all the counsel of the Word of God. It lies upon Timothy’s soul to give it. Does it lie upon your soul to give the teaching of the Bible to all who will listen?

DAILY DROP OF WATER

(2Ti 4:1) “I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; ….”  We know this is not referring to the Rapture. The rapture will occur in the blink of an eye (1 Cor 15:51-52; 1 Thess 4:16). When Jesus returns as King every eye shall see Him (his appearing). The quick are those who were made alive spiritually, the Born Again, having received Him during the Tribulation Period. The dead are the lost, still spiritually dead. By the way, the Rapture could occur at any moment. Are you sure you are alive spiritually?

DAILY DROP OF WATER

(2Ti 3:16) “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable…..(17)  That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”   Since it is through the work of God’s Word in you that makes you “perfect” and your work right before God, then the amount of time in the Word affects the acceptability of those works. If out of 24 hours, you give the Word no time – poor the quality; 15 minutes – better (?); ½ hour, hour? By God’s standard, what is the quality of your work?

DAILY DROP OF WATER

(2Ti 3:16) “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable…..(17)  That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”   Is a “man of God” referring only to those called by God to give their lives as ministers of the Gospel? That is how it is used in the Old Testament. But in the New Testament all the saved have been commissioned to give forth the gospel. Thus every saved man should be a “man of God” and every saved woman a “woman of God”.

DAILY DROP OF WATER

(2Ti 3:16) “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable…..(17)  That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”  The word “perfect” (complete) is used two ways in Scripture. 1. All the saved are perfect unto salvation, for they are in Christ Jesus (1 Cor 2:6; Phil 3:15). 2. In experience while we are in this sinful bodies, we seek to become perfect through learning (Scripture) and yielding to the Spirit of God (2 Cor 13:11; Phil 3:12).

DAILY DROP OF WATER

(2Ti 3:16) “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:…”   We first see in this verse how this blessed gift of God’s very words are to reach man’s convicted soul bringing him back to His God (doctrine, reproof, correction). “Instruction in righteousness” speaks of the tutorage of that Word which we know is used by the Holy Spirit to teach us right thinking and the right path. I would say God very much cares about man and how he is to live before Him.

DAILY DROP OF WATER

(2Ti 3:16)  “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction,…..”  “Correction”: a straightening up again. Sin makes the soul stoop, weights it down and keeps one thinking skewed. The word of God lifts it up to a right place, so that we might once again walk with our God! The Word of God is the balm of Gilead, the medicine the soul requires. Did you spend time there yesterday? Will you spend time there today?

DAILY DROP OF WATER

(2Ti 3:16) “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof,….”  “Reproof”: it brings about “conviction” of sin. A true child of God seeks to live in such a way as to please He Who saved their soul. As they read their Bible they hold it up as a mirror to their life. They are open to the Spirit of God within them convicting them of their sin and thus confess and forsake it. Our righteous God then responds by forgiving that sin! Praise Him!
