(2Co 10:4) “(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)”  While immature believers are reacting to problems among the church in the flesh (carnal), the mature are doing to through the Spirit of God. His power is unlimited and thus can overcome anything. This is the mindset of the truly mature believer.

(2Co 10:3) “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:”   Just as the things of the spirit are more important than the things of the flesh, so it is in this battle. Our text is further enlightened by this one: (Eph_6:12) “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” 

(2Co 10:3) “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:”  When facing a problem within the local church, the family of the truly saved, we must first look to self’s reaction. Our flesh can move us to reaction wrongly. Our own motivations must be first considered, and if wrong, condemned, rejected.

(2Co 10:2) “But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.”  People have a tendency to think a meek person is a weak person. Here they are being for-warned; it is not the case, begging them not to force his hand. The Lord wishes His children to live in peace, but that doesn’t mean sin is not to be dealt with among us.

(2Co 10:1) “Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you:”  The Holy Spirit is having Paul reveal he knew what others had been saying about him. Yet, he is not speaking out of the position of anger, but as Christ Himself, with meekness and gentleness. Lord help each of us to speak in this way!

(2Co 9:15) “Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.”  Why is God’s gift through grace said to be “unspeakable”? Answer: It is beyond the comprehension of each of us. No one can discern the scope – all that that gift entails. It not only includes this life but also the life to come. Yes, it is unspeakable!

(2Co 9:12) “For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;….(14) And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you.”  Consider how wonderful it is when some soul gives thanks to God for you, for the way you have blessed them in some manner. My mind goes to Jesus’ Words: (Mat_10:42) “And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.” 

(2Co 9:13) “Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men;”  Experiment: as in “to test”. For the believer, life holds many such test of applying the teachings of the gospel to life’s situations. The result is the glorification of He Who gave His life to purchase our salvation.

(2Co 9:12) “For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;”  The right result of this action of giving; more importantly of this purpose of ministry – the glorification  through praise to the Lord of glory, salvation, and care.
