I THESSALONIANS

FIRST THESSALONIANS

(From the Daily Drop of Water Series)

by Rev. Jerry L Holcomb

CHAPTER ONE

(1Th 1:2) “We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers; (3)  Remembering without ceasing your work of faith,….”  Faith is believing what God has said and acting upon it. It is therefore when one works in reaction to wanting to please Him that the Lord blesses. Such a person has faith that the Lord will bless their labors, for they are for Him and not for self.

TITUS

THE BOOK OF TITUS

(From the Daily Drop of Water Series)

by Rev. Jerry L Holcomb

(Tit 1:1)  “Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect,….”  As you continue to read, you will find that Paul is including himself in the words, “according to the faith of God’s elect…..” The elect are the privileged to be saved. They are those known unto God before the foundation of the world (1 Peter 1:2). As Israel is chosen as a nation, those who repent and are saved are the chosen (elect) to be God’s temple in this present age (dispensation).

EPHESIANS

DAILY DROP OF WATER

THE BOOK OF EPHESIANS

CHAPTER ONE

(Eph 1:3) “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:”  There are two ways of looking at this passage – both doctrinally correct.  First, the source of all spiritual blessings are through Jesus Who sits in the heavens at this very moment. The second is that these blessings are all ours now awaiting us, as in the mind of God that we are already there, (Eph 2:6) “And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:” Either way they are ours!

PHILIPPIANS COMMENTARY

DAILY DROP OF WATER

THE BOOK OF PHILIPPIANS

CHAPTER ONE

(Php 1:1) “Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:”  A servant is one who serves at the beck and call of their Lord, their Master. Few have a true servant’s heart. We are willing and glad to be called a Child of God, one of the Redeemed, Members of Such and Such Church, etc.. But are we servants? This is certainly something I must consider before my Lord. “Do I serve Your at Your beck and call.”

DAILY DROP OF WATER

(1Co 11:23) “For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: (24) And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.” Jesus said He was the Manna from heaven. This bread represents He Who was sent from heaven to meet the hunger for God within us.

DAILY DROP OF WATER

(1Co 11:27) “Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.”  This is not speaking of the lost, though it would certainly apply. It is speaking to the saved, approaching it with known sin in your life, or not in true reverence of the sacrifice of Christ Jesus.
